Marie Davidson is a Montreal-based electronic music producer, singer, songwriter and poet. She has released five solo albums under her own name and many more with other projects such as Essaie pas, Marie Davidson & L'Oeil nu, DKMD, SLEAZY and Les momies de Palerme.
Her work has been released on international music labels such as Ninja Tune, Cititrax (Minimal Wave) and DFA Records, among others. Her music explores the creative possibilities of hardware, software and acoustic sound sources such as voice, violin and field recordings.
She produces music in a wide range of styles, including club music, ambient, techno, pop, rock, chanson and spoken word poetry. Her work is introspective, sometimes described as dark and heavy, but at the same time humorous. Her latest productions have been composed especially for Jump Cut #2, a multidisciplinary project curated by the dance company Animals Of Distinction, featuring visual artist Sabrina Ratté and choreographer Dana Gingras.
