With increased sophistication, this feature transforms the videogame experience into a rich space for visual creation, combining aesthetics, narrative and exploration. Through concrete examples, including an international competition launched by Ubisoft in 2022, this presentation by Director of Strategic Visualization, Jean Guesdon, explores how photomode goes beyond simple screen capture to become an artistic language. By questioning the boundaries between games, art and technology, we will see how this hybrid practice enhances video games as a medium of expression.
Jean Guesdon is a seasoned designer with almost 20 years' experience in the creative industries. After an initial career in traditional toys, he leaped into interactive games by joining Ubisoft Montréal in 2005, becoming a member of the original Assassin's Creed team. Game designer on Assassin's Creed 2 and then in charge of the franchise's content for two years, he played a central role in the design of all Assassin's Creed games on all platforms, as well as novels, comics, short films, and derivative products.
