In this masterclass, Poul Holleman (Co-founder and Director, 4DSOUND) introduces 4DSOUND as a creative environment for working with spatial sound. Through hands-on demonstrations, he will explore how the software makes it easy to move between different spaces and sound systems, combining a broad range of spatial tools with an intuitive and flexible interface.
Rather than prescribing a single workflow, 4DSOUND can function as an instrument in itself or connect with other software, hardware and custom interfaces. Poul will look at different approaches to spatial composition, touch on relevant psychoacoustic principles, and consider why and how space can become an active part of working with sound.
The session will place these tools within a broader practice of creativity and collaboration. Examples from 4DSOUND and its partners will show how the platform is used across different studios, systems and contexts, connecting a growing community of artists, designers, researchers and spaces working with spatial sound.
