Denial is untenable; if we continue on this path, we may not live to see the future before nature expels us. It's remarkable that Earth has tolerated our extensive and ongoing damage thus far. The UN's 17 SDGs by 2030 isn't far away, and the road to achieving these goals require us to not just focus on data of one specific goal, but to try and understand co-dependencies between data sets of different fields like AI and climate change." - Portrait XO
In this hybrid performance-keynote, the Berlin-based multimodal AI artist Portrait XO shares her journey of working with AI and data-driven technologies in sound and visuals, in addressing the pressing questions of the UN's 17 SDGs. Her research started with sonifying a century of world temperature anomalies to highlight spikes in data similar to the exponential growth of AI. She will deconstruct how she sonifies data using new data sonification tools by Manifest Audio. Through a unique audiovisual performance, Portrait XO translates historic data of critical data sets – events when temperatures were significantly higher or lower than average – into sonic experiences.
