The revolutionary powers of AI, technology and art are key vehicles in igniting urgent action and transforming dialogue around climate. In sight of this, The Climate Machine, an interdisciplinary research group at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), has been harnessing these very powers by leveraging AI, immersive experiences, emotionally resonant storytelling, and community embedding. Their aim is simple: to bridge the gap between climate science and the human experience in order to make the abstract threats of climate change feel visceral and personally relevant. In this keynote session, MIT researcher, environmental scientist, architect, inventor and electronic music producer Norhan Bayomi will reflect on how innovative practices like AI-generated art, augmented reality visualizations, and artist-scientist collaborations can reshape public perceptions, catalyze societal shifts and promote pro-environmental behaviors.
