Between introspection and collective energy, machìna composes shifting soundscapes where modular improvisations and pristine vocals meet. Based between Tokyo and Berlin, the South Korean artist draws on a background in classical vocal training and a deep love of jazz to create music that feels both deliberate and playful.
Since emerging as a solo artist, machìna has expanded her practice into multimedia performance and live modular techno, culminating in her 2023 tour with Richie Hawtin’s From Our Minds project. Her live sets, built around Action — a series of dance tracks exploring the interplay of rhythm and sound — bring a tactile sense of movement to the dancefloor.
Outside the club, machìna’s sound resonates through fashion and art worlds alike, with tracks like Respect and choom featured in campaigns for Miu Miu and Nike. Collaborations with Prada, Vans, Shiseido, and Red Bull Music reflect her ability to blur boundaries, moving fluidly from expansive ambient to sharp, driving techno. Now, following the completion of Action, machìna continues to explore new dimensions of sound, space, and physicality as she builds her next full-length release.
