Malte Leander SE/FR+QCSE/FR+QC
Malte Leander is a Swedish-French multidisciplinary artist, facilitator, and organizer based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Primarily working in sound and performance, his sonic explorations and artistic research often revolve around various natural environments, from urban spaces to coastlines and ocean ecology.
Alongside his artistic practice, Leander is committed to building the conditions for experimental culture to thrive. A co-founder and active member of World Creation Studio, he embodies the organization's ethos of artist-led infrastructure: through sustained involvement with collectives, non-profit organizations, and art institutions, he has taken on roles as programming coordinator, podcast host, and project manager, leading the organization of large-scale initiatives including a two-day mini-festival, a songwriting camp, and an international sound artist residency exchange. His work across disciplines and communities has brought him to present artworks and projects in Canada and internationally, spanning Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Cuba, Mexico, Japan, and the United States.
