The Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse and MUTEK are joining forces to support five young French professionals or artists passionate about electronic music and digital creation who wish to attend the 10th edition of MUTEK Forum, the professional component of the MUTEK festival, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary from August 20 to 23 in Montreal.

Participants, in addition to experiencing Montreal during festival season, will have the opportunity to take part in various activities:

  • Conferences, panels, workshops, masterclasses (e.g., Behnaz Farahi, Douglas Rushkoff, Frankie Hutchinson, Refik Anadol, Ruha Benjamin...) and institutions (e.g., Ableton, Atlas V, EarthPercent, Epic Games, Felix & Paul Studios, Google, IDFA, MIT, National Film Board of Canada, PHI, Water & Music...).
  • Programming focused on extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI), addressing ethical, ecological, and political issues related to cutting-edge technologies. The Future Festivals initiative, a laboratory for reflection on the future of digital artistic events, guides part of the activities.
  • MUTEK Market offering direct access to local avant-garde artists and a vast international network of digital creation professionals.
  • Networking activities within the framework of MUTEK Forum - including group and face-to-face events, pitch sessions - and also within cultural institutions (Centre PHI, Museum of Contemporary Art...) and creation studios (Dpt., Moment Factory, Normal...).
  • Digital platform: programming details, personalized schedule, and networking opportunities.

Candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old, be French or have been residing in France for more than 1 year, and be professionals in digital creativity, electronic music, visual or digital arts. Deadline for applications is May 12, 2024.

OFQJ intends to provide financial assistance to participants up to €350, and MUTEK offers the Forum Passport as well as the MUTEK Passport. Benefits for airfare, accommodation, dining, and leisure activities are also provided.
