Total monthly consumer spending on music decreased by more than 45% compared to pre-pandemic, with live music events and physical sales being the most severely affected. Growing economic pressures and new variations of piracy have further disadvantaged the music industry. What kind of tools and approaches can be used to build a stronger, more equitable ecosystem?
In this session, artists, cultural producers and community organizers will present projects and solutions that worldbuild a brighter future for electronic music, involving alternative business models for community building, crip futurity, new forms of intellectual property and innovative pathways from emerging technology towards patronism. Panelists include Operations Manager at Club SagaCité San Farafina, composer and co-founder of Crip Rave Stefana Fratila, and cultural thinker and co-founder of Wild Cosmos Studio Sorrel Salb.
