More than just a “good night out”, raves are phenomenons embodying spiritual practices and ecstatic techniques. Through years of dancing, Eris Drew, a long-time American DJ and resident at legendary clubs like smartbar and The Bunker NY, has identified key techniques, ready-to-share, to fully experience raves. These include “speaker freaking”, closed-eye dancing, attending alone, and mother beat synchronization through dancing with fundamental rhythms. She is known for her all-vinyl sets, technical skills on the decks, marathon back-to-back sets with Octo Octa and a musical knowledge that goes back decades.
Focusing on fostering an in-depth discussion surrounding raves, this session will delve into ordeal based rave protocols (including sleep cycle disruption, loud noise, dancing without food for hours, etc). These out of body experiences also welcome entheogenic rituals, where plant medicines and MDMA fuel the raver to fully step into repetitive beats for hours. The session will approach topics such as harm reduction, resonance, repetition, deep listening and so much more — to take your next rave experience a step further.
