David Barlow-Krelina is an animator and filmmaker. Graduate of Concordia University, he has directed films with the National Film Board of Canada and currently works as a technical artist and animation director at Montréal-based studio ED Films. His career spans 2D and 3D animation, game development, and immersive formats such as dome and large-scale screen installations.
Barlow-Krelina’s artistic style merges hand drawing, digital sculpting, and VR art, often incorporating surreal elements drawn from human anatomy, caricature, and imagined landscapes. His work explores extreme visual distortions—of faces, bodies, and environments—inviting viewers to see the world through a stranger lens.
At the heart of his practice is a commitment to storytelling that reimagines the familiar. Whether developing tools to support other artists or crafting his own fantastical narratives, he moves between technical craft and creative expression. He lives and works in Val-Morin, in the Laurentian hills of Québec.
