HoneydripCA/QC
Honeydrip is a Montréal-based producer, DJ, and sound system builder whose music sits at the crossroads of Caribbean heritage and contemporary electronic experimentation. Drawing on formal studies in electroacoustics and a deep-rooted love of dub, reggae, and dancehall, she has developed a distinctive bass-heavy sound that bridges sound system culture with the cutting edge of UK bass, jungle, and leftfield techno.
Over nearly a decade, Honeydrip has built a reputation as one of Montréal's most respected figures in the underground electronic scene. Her practice is rooted in the traditions of sound system culture, reimagined through a contemporary and experimental lens that honours its communal energy, physicality, and politics of bass.
With releases on forward-thinking labels including Woozy and Banoffee Pies Records, Honeydrip has positioned herself within some of the most adventurous currents in global electronic music. This year, she collaborated with MORPH, a queer and femme-led collective reclaiming sound system culture and technical spaces, to co-present the Sound System Lab; a showcase celebrating Montreal’s community of builders and operators. Her work is a testament to the enduring power of Caribbean sound culture, and to the possibilities that open up when tradition and innovation are brought into dialogue.
