Joana Neto Costa has been working in the performing arts sector as a project manager for about ten years. Born in Montréal to parents of Portuguese origin, she grew up and completed her training as a theater producer in Porto, Portugal. In Porto, she co-founded A TURMA, a theater company (2006), and worked as a freelance collaborator with several Portuguese theater companies (Cao Danado and Visoes Uteis) until 2012.
After several years dedicating her skills and dynamism to the service of the performing arts (Théâtre aux Écuries, Opéra de Montréal, Conseil québécois de théâtre and Théâtre Espace Libre), and taking an interest in digital transformation for the performing arts, she is now in charge of the Digital Trajectories program at La Piscine MTL - a Montréal accelerator for the creative and cultural industries. In 2019, she completed a master's degree in digital transformation for cultural organizations at HEC Montréal. She was also a member of the Québec network of digital development agents (DNA Network) and acted in this capacity for the Québec Theater Council (CQT).
A firm believer in the power of technological innovations for the arts, she is particularly interested in data-driven culture and the potential that digital transformation can offer to cultural organizations.
