Michael Montanaro is a trans-disciplinary artist who is known for his work in the fields of contemporary dance, theatre, film, and interactive media. His creative process reflects a dedication to the envisioning, the conceptual design and the creation of projects focused on evolving innovative ways in which performative practices and technology can be used collaboratively to enhance the interactive experience.
His work continues to be featured both nationally and internationally at festivals such as MNM: New Musics Festival, Western Front, FIFA, Ars Electronica, Kapelica Gallery, NEMO Biennale, Sonica Biennale, Eufònic, Currents: Art & Technology Festival, milanOltre, Château de Lunéville, and Singapore Arts Festival, Art, Science. Montanaro was also the coartistic director of Le Groupe de la Place Royale dance company, artistic director of Montanaro Dance and the choreographer for the Cirque de Soleil’s Varekai which toured North America, Europe and Australia between 2002 and 2012.
