Composer and sound artist Noémi Büchi creates cross-genre musical structures defined by a delicate synthesis of textural rhythms and electroacoustic-orchestral abstraction; work that contrasts rhythmic physicality with disruption, emphasizing irregularities in an expansive listening experience. Her most recent album Exuvie (2026) maps the processes through which the body absorbs, remembers, and transforms. A performer at MUTEK this edition, she opens up the architecture behind that practice in this masterclass.

Büchi unpacks one of her complete performance Ableton Live Sets as a case study to explore how Live can function not only as a DAW, but as a compositional, performative, and organizational environment for live electronic music. She explores how sampling, resynthesis, and granular processing keep pre-composed material alive in performance, and how sound categories such as rhythmic, textural, harmonic, noisy, transitional, can be organized for dramaturgical development.

Basic to advanced knowledge of Ableton Live required. Bring a laptop with Ableton Live installed.
