Contemporary innovations in immersive audio are redefining how sound is created, spatialized, and felt. Moving beyond the stereo field, spatial and sculptural sound practices are opening new perceptual territories, transforming listening from a passive act into a full-body, three-dimensional experience.

This session brings together leading voices shaping the field across artistic, curatorial, and research contexts. Laura-June Clarke, a key figure at MONOM and within the 4DSOUND ecosystem, and Dr. Lea Luka Sikau, Head Curator for Sound and Music at ZKM Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, join Myriam Boucher, sound and image composer and professor in digital and audiovisual music composition at the Université de Montréal, and Jarl Schulp, curator and director of FIBER and co-initiator of Futures of Listening, an interdisciplinary long-term platform exploring how sound-based practices can reframe our technological and environmental awareness.

Together, they will explore the evolving aesthetics and infrastructures of immersive audio, the role of institutions and festivals in supporting spatial sound practices, and what it means to design listening experiences that are as much architectural as they are musical. The session will also offer a first glimpse of a forthcoming MUTEK initiative carrying the same name

Moderated by Alain Mongeau, Co-Director and Artistic Director of MUTEK.

Please note: this activity will be in English, with live transcription available.
