Working at the intersection of storytelling and place, wonder and education, pop culture and deep-diving academia, Cynthia Sharpe is an award-winning creative director, strategist, and renaissance nerd in location-based experiences. Over 25 years, she’s worked with clients as diverse as the Smithsonian, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, Space Center Houston, Google, Expo 2020, the London Olympics, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. Trained as a human geneticist, Sharpe left research science to carve a path that could reconnect her to her creative passions: blending theatrical storytelling and writing with her scientific knowledge by working in the museum world. She has made a name for herself not just for great guest experiences, but also her human-focused approach to inclusive, equitable, accessible design process and product. Her practice is rooted in the belief that good design can transform individuals, communities, and society and that location-based experiences can lead to tremendous cultural and cognitive transformation.
