Nyambura M. Waruingi is a multi-media installation artist who creates at the intersection of art, culture, and immersive technology. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Akoia & Company Ltd (Nairobi) and La Perle Noire Immersive (Montréal). She is also a two-time grantee of Women Win’s ONSIDE Gaming.
In creating and producing transformative and audience-centred projects, she experiments with cinematic immersive storytelling and gaming to reimagine often-erased stories grounded in radical feminist politics. Her XR installations and gaming experiences have been presented at Games For Change Global, XR Women, Games For Change Africa, Museum Next, and Xbox Game Camp Africa.
Most recently, Waruingi’s afro-gothic interactive art installation, The Ground Screams To Whisper, has been selected as part of La SAT’s 2025 – 2026 residency cohort after having been invited to Artizen’s Showcase, DoK Leipzig XR Exchange, New Images Festival XR Development Market, PlayTopia, and EyeMyth Festival.
