Huw Williams is the founder of Sinai Sound System, a Sheffield-based sound system known for its versatility, craftsmanship and commitment to DIY sound culture. Originally rooted in reggae and dub, Sinai has evolved into a modular and highly adaptable system, moving across genres and contexts while placing sound quality and listening at its core.
Williams describes his practice through the idea of a “sound ecosystem” connecting the audience, the artist and the sound system, where all three need to work in harmony. His role is to listen closely, respond to the space and the audience, and translate the artist’s sonic vision through the system. This hands-on and responsive approach has allowed Sinai to evolve continuously, through experimentation, testing and collaboration, and to become a respected presence across the UK and European sound system circuit.
