This session marks a decade of Atelier Grand Nord XR; SODEC’s flagship programme supporting Québec companies and artists developing XR work, encouraging co-production, in partnership with MUTEK since the very beginning. Hosted by Éloi Champagne, Head of Technical Direction and Production Technology at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and a key consultant in the francophone XR ecosystem.
The session opens with a mini-retrospective tracing ten years of artistic risk taking, transatlantic co-productions, and a community built across generations. Three landmark projects are then revisited by their creators from the program's past, present and future: Les Passagers with Ziad Touma (Couzin Films) and Maude Thibodeau (Dpt.), Épicentre with Thomas Payette (Mirari) and Isabelle Brodeur (CoLAB Studios), and The Great Collection with Vincent Morisset (AATOAA). A panel will follow to explore what the Francophone XR ecosystem has built, and where it is headed.
