Erin Gee (Tiohtià:ke/Montréal) is a Canadian artist and composer whose work is characterized by a sustained engagement with art-science practice, technology, and music. Through vocal performances, interactive installations, and the development of new technologies, she extends the vibrations of the human voice into realms of vibratory matter, or electricity across systems. She is known internationally for developing DIY biofeedback instruments that transform physiological signals into sound. Her paper The BioSynth—An Affective Biofeedback Device Grounded in Feminist Thought received the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) in 2023.
As a composer, her electroacoustic and orchestrally textured work draws inspiration from phenomena such as sound wave behavior, the physicality of emotion, the decomposition of matter, quantum physics, and, more recently, the sensory and biological origins of human life. Her work has been presented internationally at festivals, galleries, and performance venues including Ars Electronica (AT), MUTEK (CA/AR), Music Gallery (CA), the Toronto Biennial (CA), and the Karachi Biennale (PK). She is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Music at the Université de Montréal.
