Multifaceted artist, producer, and vocalist, Ilā Kamalagharan’s work traverses ethereal non-binary vocal timbre, dense sonic textures, pioneering AI production tools, and quantum computer music. Their practice explores fluidity from personal identity to socio-economic systems, focusing on physics, philosophy, and technology. Their upcoming short film Murmur is a collaboration with robot artist Ai-Da, Imogen Heap, Guy Sigsworth, BISHI, and Portrait XO.
Their most recent work includes UN/BOUND, an interactive holographic sound installation piece created in collaboration with TRANS VOICES, the U.K.'s first professional trans+ choir, and MONOM as part of The Barbican (London)’s Feel the Sound immersive exhibition.
Kamalagharan sits on the Ivors Academy Future Sound Experience Council, is a member of Earth/Percent Music Committee, a Redcliffe Advisory ambassador, and a research partner (AI & Music) at the University of Sheffield. They have performed globally as well as presenting work at Silencio (Paris), Puzzle X (Barcelona), the University of Oxford, and Harvard University in collaboration with MOTH.
