Safia SiadCA
Safia Siad is a curator, art historian, and DJ whose practice is rooted in deep listening. A founding member of the Afrosonic Innovation Lab, she works at the intersections of visual and sonic culture, tracing the aesthetic and political dimensions of African diasporic expression across art, sound, and space.
Her deep listening sessions have created spaces of collective attention and resonance in Montréal, Florence, Toronto, and Banff, bringing together communities around shared sonic experience. As a writer, her critical voice has been heard in C Magazine and across multiple exhibition catalogues, contributing to ongoing conversations about diaspora and the poetics of Black creative life.
Siad recently completed an SSHRC-funded Master of Arts in Art History at Concordia University in Montréal, where her research deepened her engagement with the theoretical and historical dimensions of her curatorial and sonic practice. Across all of her work, she remains committed to forms of attention, care, and inquiry that center the richness and complexity of African diasporic worlds.
