The Montreal producer and DJ, born Jason Voltaire, is a provocateur with purpose — an artist who builds ecstatic worlds where salaciousness, satire, and sub-bass collide. Emerging from the same post-club Montreal underground that birthed Sinjin Hawke and Lunice, Martyn Bootyspoon made early waves with an irreverent blend of ghetto tech, jacking house, and electroclash, all laced with his signature wit.

Since then, he’s become one of North America’s most singular dance artists — equal parts showman and technician. Behind the decks, his sets are shapeshifting sermons: rib-rattling techno and body-slamming ghetto house are woven together with absurdist vocal flips and narrative flair. His performance is never passive — it’s a dialogue with the dancefloor, full of tension, tease, and total release.

His studio work follows suit. Bootyspoon’s discography includes boundary-pushing releases for labels like Fool’s Gold, Future Classic, Local Action, LuckyMe, and AUS Music (alongside 96 Back). Whether he’s flipping HiTech into stadium-sized jack tracks or scoring surrealist sleaze with Fractal Fantasy, his output is high-concept and hot-blooded. 2024 saw Martyn Bootyspoon hit new heights with a standout Boiler Room set in Montreal and the release of Thicc! on AUS Music — a no-holds-barred club weapon that tore through playlists and packed dancefloors. Now, in 2025, he’s pushing momentum higher: his recent vocal feature on “On” by Jump Source (Patrick Holland & Priori) has emerged as a streaming standout, reintroducing Bootyspoon’s singular voice to a wider global audience.

Up next: a full touring schedule (Bass Coast, MUTEK, and more) alongside his debut EP on LuckyMe (Fall 2025) followed by a forward-leaning Fractal Fantasy project in early 2026. With each release, Bootyspoon sharpens his hybrid identity — part bedroom bard, part clubland jester — always pushing dance music into weirder, wilder territory.
