Jason Voltaire is a Montréal-based interdisciplinary artist known for his dynamic motion graphics design and innovative programming. He is also known by his musical alias Martyn "M." Bootyspoon. Emerging from the Fractal Fantasy collective alongside Sinjin Hawke and Zora Jones, Bootyspoon first made his mark in 2017 with a feature on Hawke’s First Opus LP, before releasing his debut EP Silk Eternity in 2018 to critical acclaim. Blending raunchy house, ghettotech, and slick digital club textures, Bootyspoon crafts tracks designed to flip genre conventions inside out, updating classic sounds with a sharp sense of humor and a distinctly Internet-era twist. His music channels the energy of late-night hedonism while maintaining a meticulous ear for rhythmic detail and texture.
Beyond the studio, his DJ sets are fast-paced and athletic, weaving floor-filling grooves with unexpected tempo shifts and familiar hooks filtered through a bacchanalian lens. Bootyspoon has delivered mixes for platforms like NTS, FACT Magazine, Crack Magazine, and DJ Mag, cementing his reputation as a singular voice in the global club scene. Also active as a motion graphics designer and creative programmer, Voltaire brings the same irreverent and innovative spirit to his visual collaborations with artists, bridging the worlds of music and digital art with ease.
