On August 22–23 at PHI, the Music Hackspace Hackathon delivered two days of intensive prototyping across five unique challenges: musician and YouTuber Andrew Huang's "Navigating Chaos," Roland Future Design Lab's Project LYDIA, Elk Audio's hardware challenge "Unplugged," and further creative briefs from Stability AI and MuseHub.

For 15 years, Music Hackspace has grown a global community of artists, developers, and creative coders, and its hackathons have a track record of turning weekend prototypes into real tools. This Montreal edition saw 66 builders ship 26 working prototypes in a single weekend.

At this session, the winning teams take to the MUTEK Forum stage to present their prototypes live. The winning projects spanned the full range of what that community makes, from a gestural interface that turns a neural network into a playable live instrument, to a real-time AI drum machine you perform with on the beat, to an app that resurfaces the forgotten ideas buried in your unfinished project files.
